Visit
Before visiting SweetWater, you might want to know what to expect. After all, every church is a little different. So, here is a glimpse of what our church services are like. As you take a look, be mindful that we’re looking forward to meeting you!
We’re a growing Church
One of the first things you will notice as you walk through door is that we are a growing family of believers. Everyone, from the young people to the Pastor, is friendly and will greet you with a handshake. After several introductions, sit anywhere you like. Be sure to look in the pew and find a visitor card. We appreciate a record of your visit with us. Fill it out and hold on to it until later in the service.
Service starts at 10:45 am
You will know that service is starting either by watching the countdown timer on the projection screen or Romans Road (our worship team) will begin a time of corporate singing. When we worship the Lord through song, we sing a blended arrangment of hymns and contemporary choruses. If you don’t know the words, they are usually on the big screen.
A Time for Giving
At some point in the singing, we collect our tithes and offerings. We believe that giving is an important part of our worship. As a visitor, you are not required to give, but you may wish to contribute an offering as God leads you. We thank you for your generosity. Drop the visitor card you filled out earlier in the offering plate. If you are still a member of another church, you may wish to give your tithes to your own church, but you welcomed to present an offering if you feel that you would like to do so.
A Timeless Message
Following a time of singing, the Pastor will come to the front and ask everyone to open their Bibles to a certain passage. If you didn’t bring your own copy of God’s Word with you, there are Bibles located in the pews in front of you. Our Pastor will read the passage of Scripture then preach a sermon. You’ll find at the heart of every message, the timeless truth of the gospel that “I am accepted through Jesus Christ, therefore I obey” while every other religion operates on the principle of “I obey, therefore I am accepted.”
Moments for Ministry
After the preaching, there is a special time of invitation. It is a time to respond to the message. You can feel free to get up and walk to the Pastor for personal one-on-one ministry. This time is dedicated to you and your needs.
AÂ closing Prayer
After the invitation, we dismiss the congregation, sometimes with a song. Other times, a simple prayer will do. Upon dismissal, take time to meet our members and learn more about the families that make up our church membership. Our services usually last a little over an hour.
