Have you tasted the SweetWater?

If you were given the choice of a glass of water or a check for a thousand dollars, which do you think you would choose? It would depend on your circumstances wouldn’t it? If your car had a flat and you were walking down a long, dusty dirt road in the middle of nowhere under a beating summer sun trying to find help — a cool glass of water would be far more valuable than a check!

Many of us are suffering through a spiritually long, dusty dirt path and we’ve tried to quench our thirst in a number of wrong ways. If you are thirsty, listen to the words of Jesus:

On the final and climactic day of the Feast of Tabernacles, a feast observed annually by the Jews, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me, just as the Scripture says.” [See John 7:38]

We can see that this thirst that Jesus was speaking about is a spiritual craving for God, a longing that operates deep within the heart of every human being created in the image of God, a thirst that Jesus and Jesus alone can satisfy for all eternity. According to John’s gospel this universal spiritual thirst can be quenched and satisfied only by the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus promised to give to all who will believe in him, and who will give to the believer eternal life.

At SweetWater Baptist Church, we’re providing the SweetWater of Jesus Christ to a thirsty world! Have you tasted the SweetWater? Come worship Jesus with us, Sundays at 10:45am. We’re located at 1305 Alice Street in Waycross.
